| | The Fanned Patches compared to other techniques:
1. Construction Analyze.
| | |
| This is the Fanned Patch Reinforcement, only one piece of laminate plus 2 or 3 small Dacron Pieces. No fuss ! Comparison: Weight: 9/10, Performance 10/10, Durability 7/10 | | | | |
| Classic reinforcement used in most laminated sails. These reinforcements are strong but need a lot of sailcloth and are time consuming to effect. The result is heavy, and very difficult to dry after wet sailing. Comparison: Weight: 4/10, Performance 8/10, Durability 7/10 | | | | |
| "Cover Reinforcement", these patches are light but low efficiency, usually used to reinforce the panels and need to be complemented with another reinforcement. Comparison: Weight: 8/10, Performance 3/10, Durability 8/10 | | | | | | Traditional Reinforcement used on Dacron sail (low aspect), simple and economic, not suited to racing Sails. This technique is also used on 3DL sails to rigidify and to correct the low stability which is aggravated near corners (because of the irregular weaving, tensile and coating ). Comparison: Weight: 5/10, Performance 4/10, Durability 8/10 | | | | |
2. Utilization example: Visit our RBS Adhesive Pages ref M4.1 for Patches New 2000 Generation delivered with a thermo-reactive glue included in the sheet with a film liner
1. Reinforcement Preparation: The user adjusts the shape of the reinforcement while cutting it, and then removes the liner. | | 2. Pre-bonding the panel: The positioning is easy, just like an insignia 'patch'. - It is possible to adjust the reinforcement or to remove tensions. (peel-off possible before pressing into contact) - The assembly can be manipulated slowly before it is laminated.
| 3. Lamination with the Power Press Lamination with the press (high Pressure, 60/70°C) produces perfect adhesion, - The reinforcement and the basic cloth combine to form one flexible laminated product.
| 4. Easy and fast Processing: Since 1992 we have been developing Specialized Machines for bonding and Laminating. The lamination is very rapid with a roller of 200mm width. (approximately 1m² to 2m² per minute)
| 5. For Low Qty Manufacturer: We have been developing a Manual Heating roller for evaluation or low needs. ( Approx 5 min per m²) |
