SINCE 1995: BI-COMPONENTS  STRUCTURAL  GLUES

Beginning in 1989 our expertise in Sail Gluing has been concentrated on a specific method producing higher quality, compared to adhesive tape methods and Hot Melt Systems.

In 1994, we found the RBS system for High quality sails and production facilities. The RBS system is made with high quality components, and high performance hardener, no low cost additive and resins.

Bi-components M5, used by Sailmakers since 1995

The main features are:

No distortion under heavy loads at the junctions.
Very thin, smooth and soft glued seam (uses less glue)
Very High Static Shear Strength (# 80 to 150 DaN per inch² bonded junction on laboratory testing)
Because of the hardener, no humidity effect
Excellent aging life and resistance to UV
Bonded seam width resistance compared:
(glued seams on different sail-cloth compared to sewed seams)

M5.x line  Structural Joining Glue, for broad seam (horizontal)
+ Thermo-reactive glue for high strength joining of Laminate fabrics.
+ A seam joined with M5.1 Glue achieves nearly 100% of the strength of the basic materials.
+ Excellent resistance to moisture and UV degradation.

BROAD SEAMS:

Joining Procedure Compared:
( Fill tract test compared to sewed seams)

Sailcloth: 18 000 DPI Kevlar 2mil
Glue: M5.1 45mm width
Procedure: Glue coating + Laminating

Sewed seams:
50 mm width with Insignia and 4 "zigzag" seams

M4.x  line, for all purpose reinforcement, patches, battens pocket, spinnaker..
Reinforcing Glue (Two part mixed glue
+ Thermo-reactive glue for high strength reinforcement,
+ M4 Glue permits an efficient load transfer without tension at the edge of the reinforcement.
+ Excellent resistance to moisture and UV degradation.

M5.2 line for Vertical Seam
Difference Glue for panel bonding (Vertical assemblies)
Thermo-reactive glue for vertical assemblies of sailcloth

VERTICAL SEAMS:

Joining Procedure Compared:
( Warp tract test compared to sewed seams)

Sailcloth: 12 000 DPI Kevlar 2mil
Glue: M5.2, 15 mm width
Procedure: Glue coating + Laminating

Sewed seams:
19 mm width with tape and one seams
